Fashion industry has always been one step ahead in adapting technologies. These technological developments have made the fashion industry more advanced and demandable.
Fashion followers always want something new and updated. They get bored easily and so to keep up with this super trendy world, where everyday something new is demanded.
One of the highly demanded technologies entering the fashion world has been 3d printing. It changed the boundaries of experiments and brought different levels of explorations in the runways. In 2013 burlesque dancer and artist Dita Von Teese modelled the first fully 3D printed dress in New York.
3D printing has always been a better option due to its optimizing production processes, personalisation, and cost of production which is low as compared to any other method of printing.
The word digital tailoring became familiar on the Balenciaga’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. 3D scans were made in use to take measurement of the models’ bodies. Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia digitally tailored his collection. The ultimate result saved the wastage of cloth as only two seams on the jackets were seen. The amazing printing method helped many designers to try more and more stuff, which increased their creativity level. Iris Van Herpen a Dutch designer created lines towards florid shapes. The collection was displayed in Paris fashion week 2018 as 21 pieces showed the advanced digital technology like laser cutting, parametric design and 3D printing. 3D prints carry great potential to bring a big change in the fashion industry that can be seen slowly.
