Art is an essential aspect of any civilization. After the fulfillment of basic needs, artistic activities starts to develop automatically. If we talk of ancient Egypt, it is Known as one of the oldest and richest civilizations to have ever existed. sky-scraping pyramids and monumental Sphinx are just the outlook of such heritage. What resides at the core is the richest part of Egypt. Egyptian society was based on the concept of ma’at, which means harmony.This concept came to existence  at the beginning of creation of the universe. No matter how beautifully a statue may have been crafted, But it always had an essential purpose behind. This is why Egyptian art has always been functional.  In many cases, this function was a reminder of the eternal nature of life and the value of personal and communal stability. Religion in ancient Egypt was fully integrated into the people’s daily lives. The gods were present at one’s birth, throughout one’s life, in the transition from earthly life to the eternal, and continued their care for the soul in the afterlife. According to the civilization spirits are always folloeing along physical life. To convey this understanding in community art was the most effective way. Symbolism in images in art, architecture, in amulets, statuary, and the objects used by nobility and clergy in the performance of their duties.

In modern world these symbols and motifs incorporate lifestyle in a different way then ancient Egypt. They still hold same values in the hearts of natives. Though Living in a globalized age these motifs are embraced by other civilization and establishments too. They may still symbolize the same meaning as these use to, but how and where these are symbolized has been certainly distinct. Fashion world has set biggest example for this. The Ankh

The ankh –  The union of opposites (male and female, earth and heaven) and the extension of earthly life to eternal, time to eternity, were all represented in the form of the looped cross.

The LOTUS

Symbol of love and creation

The Djed

The symbol of god Osiris and was linked with resurrection and eternal life.

The Scepter

This combines all three symbols, the ankh, djed, and was, with a circle at the bottom symbolizing unity. The combination of the symbols, naturally, combined their power which was only fitting for this god.

The Udjat Eye

The symbol of the eye is associated with the protective goddess Wadjet.
